Gurlitt amongst the Poppies

Yesterday was the Annual General Meeting of the UK Registrars Group, held at the Banqueting Suite inside the Tower of London.

The Group had invited the IAL to present on the topic of the Gurlitt Art Trove. The talk, delivered by Alex Herman, was entitled The Gurlitt Affair: Some Thoughts on the Legal Issues and dealt with the circumstances of the trove’s discovery, the effects of Germany’s limitation period and the tasks ahead for the Kunstmuseum Bern, the Swiss institution to which Gurlitt had bequeathed his collection. For further details, please get in touch.

It was followed by a presentation from Naomi Korn, Chair of the Libraries and Archives Copyright Alliance, on the new changes to UK copyright legislation.

The Tower was swarming with people. The poppy installation marking the First World War centenary continues to draw the crowds.
