The IAL’s Assistant Director, Alexander Herman, will be addressing the members of the Courtauld Institute Law Society in London this Wednesday, 17th February, at 6:00 pm. The title of the talk will be ‘Art, Resolution and the Courts: At the nexus of art and law‘ and the talk will provide an overview of the matrix of laws affecting the art world, while showing what happens when art-related disputes end up in court.
Most specifically: “How are lawyers and judges to understand some of the most critical questions about art – what is art, how do we measure artistic qualities and how do we establish the artistic purpose behind a work of art?”
