Orphan works: the saga continues
Posted on: June 3, 2014 by Alexander Herman
For those who have been following the consultation process for the adoption of an orphan works licensing scheme in the UK, the government has just released its response to a number of questions (27, to be exact) relating to the technical aspects of licensing orphan works.
You can view the document, released on 30 May 2014, here.
The UK scheme expands on that proposed by the EU through the Orphan Works Directive 2012/28, providing licensing for a wider pool of users and not removing the application for ‘standalone’ artistic works (such as photographs and works of art). The UK has until 29 October 2014 to implement the European Directive.
